Psychic Readings
Many Americans are quite skeptical of astrology and psychic readings, while other full heartedly believe that these super natural powers and phenomena are nothing short from the real deal. In fact numerous amounts of people use psychic readings and astrology to guide them day to day, every day.
Some may say this is improbable and no self-respecting person should rely on a psychic readings or astrology to guide them through life. However, would you believe that psychic readings and astrology could have had an enormous impact on American policy? Well according to some the answer is a big fat YES!
According to over 300 articles published by nation’s most trusted newspapers in 1988, Ronald Reagan heavily relied on astrology to make public decisions! Now, the extent to which psychic readings and astrology actually effected national and foreign policy is still up for debate. But, no matter how you cut through the gossip and tabloids there is still one underlying truth to this story, and that is Ronald Reagan and his wife did in fact consult with a psychic on a daily basis.
Even today this story is very difficult for most Americans to swallow. How could a conservative republican president rely on astrology? Especially when one of the most basic fundamental principles of conservatism is personal responsibility!
However, this news probably shouldn’t have been such a huge surprise to the American public. When delving into Reagan’s political past one could have seen this coming. When Reagan was governor of California he signed astrology legislation on August 30, 1974, twelve years before his presidency. This legislation removed Sacramento licensed astrologers from the category of fortune tellers, thus allowing them to practice their trade for compensation. However, not all of his dealings with psychic readings and astrology were as public as signing a new legislation. For example Reagan supposedly paid an astrologer $1,200 to pick his running mate in 1983.
The astrologer, Jilson, said “One of my jobs was to review the charts of all Vice Presidential candidates. I told Reagan that George Bush was the only choice. The rest is history.” The basic astrological sign involved in the decision was that “George Bush, a Gemini, was the most compatible with Reagan, an Aquarian.” This could have been an overstatement in the involvement of an astrologer in the white house, however many other events that took place involving psychic readings and the use of astrology in the white house were confirmed by Reagan himself. For example Reagan said the signing of the U.S. Soviet treaty to eliminate medium-range nuclear missiles had been signed at 1:30 p.m. on December 8, 1987 based on advice from an astrologer. Ronald Reagan also had his inauguration postponed 9 minutes as governor of California till 12:10 a.m. on January 2, 1967 based on astrology calculations.
We will never have the full scope of just how much astrology and psychic readings were actually used in the White House during the Reagan years. A lot of what is said and speculated could simply be gossip but on the other side, also has the possibility of being 100% accurate. However, this much is true…psychic powers and astrology is definitely interesting, maybe it is time we look a little closer at this phenomena and decide for ourselves if it works or is simply a figment of our imaginations.
